Surah An-Nisa verse 125:
وَمَنۡ أَحۡسَنُ دِينٗا
مِّمَّنۡ أَسۡلَمَ وَجۡهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحۡسِنٞ وَٱتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ
إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفٗاۗ وَٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ خَلِيلٗا ١٢٥
125. And who is better in religion than one who
submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good and follows the religion of
Abraham, inclining toward truth? And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.
Surah Al-Hajj verse 78:
وَجَٰهِدُواْ فِي ٱللَّهِ
حَقَّ جِهَادِهِۦۚ هُوَ ٱجۡتَبَىٰكُمۡ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فِي ٱلدِّينِ مِنۡ
حَرَجٖۚ مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمۡ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَۚ هُوَ سَمَّىٰكُمُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ مِن
قَبۡلُ وَفِي هَٰذَا لِيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَتَكُونُواْ شُهَدَآءَ
عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِۚ فَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱعۡتَصِمُواْ
بِٱللَّهِ هُوَ مَوۡلَىٰكُمۡۖ فَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمَوۡلَىٰ وَنِعۡمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ ٧٨
78. And strive for Allah with the striving due to
Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any
difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you
"Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that
the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the
people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your
protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.
Prophet
Ibrahim has the title Khalilullah (the Beloved of Allah). Prophet Ibrahim was
the son of Aazar (Tarikh) son of Nahur, son of Sarugh, son of Ra'u, son of
Faligh, son of Aabir, son of Salih, son of Arfachshad, son of Sam bin Noah. Al
Hafidz ibn Asakir related that the mother of Prophet Ibrahim was named Amilah.
Meanwhile, according to Al-Kalbiy, the mother of Prophet Ibrahim named Buna
bint Karbina bin Kartsi, from the bani Arfachshad.
Prophet
Ibrahim was born in a place called Faddam A'ram which belonged to the kingdom
of Babylon. At that time, the kingdom of Babylon was ruled by a king who was
very violent and had absolute power, namely King Namrud (Namrud bin Kan'aan).
King
Namrud was very crazy with power, so he dared to think of himself as the Lord in
power in the world. The people must worship themselves.
Before
Prophet Ibrahim was born, King Namrud had dreamed that there was a boy jumping
into his room and taking his crown and destroying it. Then King Namrud called
the fortune-teller and the sorcerer to interpret King Namrud's dream.
The
fortune-teller interpreted that King Namrud's kingdom and power would be torn
down by the boy in the dream. That boy will later bring the teachings of
monotheism and reject idols. Of course King Namrud was angry. He ordered his
soldiers to kill every newborn baby boy. Men and women are separated for a
year.
Of
course the parents of Prophet Ibrahim were worried. At that time Ibrahim was
still in the womb of his mother. They are afraid if their baby is killed.
Therefore, Ibrahim was born in a cave. For a while, Ibrahim was in the cave to
avoid King Namrud's threat.
