THE STORY OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH - Meaning of the Prophet Joseph's Dream

Joseph is one of the sons of the Prophet Jacob. Among the twelve sons of the prophets Jacob, Joseph and Bunyamin were the most beloved. This made his other brothers jealous.

Joseph's face was very handsome, he was the most handsome among his other brothers. Joseph's body shape is very good. After Joseph's biological mother, Rahil, died, the Prophet Jacob became more and more fond of Joseph.

When Joseph slept one night he dreamed. Joseph saw eleven stars, the moon and the sun all prostrate to Joseph. Joseph got up the next day and told his father, the prophet Jacob.

The prophet Jacob, who heard the story, said, "Eleven stars are your brothers, the sun is your father, and the moon is your mother. All will respect you. You will be a great person. Do not tell your dreams to your brothers. of course they will harm you. "

Surah Yusuf verses 4-6:

إِذۡ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّي رَأَيۡتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوۡكَبٗا وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَ رَأَيۡتُهُمۡ لِي سَٰجِدِينَ  ٤ قَالَ يَٰبُنَيَّ لَا تَقۡصُصۡ رُءۡيَاكَ عَلَىٰٓ إِخۡوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُواْ لَكَ كَيۡدًاۖ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ عَدُوّٞ مُّبِينٞ  ٥ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَجۡتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِن تَأۡوِيلِ ٱلۡأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعۡمَتَهُۥ عَلَيۡكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ ءَالِ يَعۡقُوبَ كَمَآ أَتَمَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَبَوَيۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسۡحَٰقَۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞ  ٦

4.  [Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father, "O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me."

5.  He said, "O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan, to man, is a manifest enemy.

6.  And thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of narratives and complete His favor upon you and upon the family of Jacob, as He completed it upon your fathers before, Abraham and Isaac. Indeed, your Lord is Knowing and Wise."

But secretly one of Joseph's brothers learned the conversation between Joseph and the Prophet Jacob.

Since then Joseph's brothers increasingly hated Joseph and tried to harm Joseph. They discussed and planned to harm Joseph. They wanted to kill Joseph. But there was one of them who did not agree, he suggested that Joseph be put in the well with the possibility that Joseph could be taken by the group that passed the well and went far away. The plan was agreed and will be carried out.

Surah Yusuf verses 7-10:

۞لَّقَدۡ كَانَ فِي يُوسُفَ وَإِخۡوَتِهِۦٓ ءَايَٰتٞ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ  ٧ إِذۡ قَالُواْ لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحۡنُ عُصۡبَةٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍ  ٨ ٱقۡتُلُواْ يُوسُفَ أَوِ ٱطۡرَحُوهُ أَرۡضٗا يَخۡلُ لَكُمۡ وَجۡهُ أَبِيكُمۡ وَتَكُونُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ قَوۡمٗا صَٰلِحِينَ  ٩ قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ لَا تَقۡتُلُواْ يُوسُفَ وَأَلۡقُوهُ فِي غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلۡجُبِّ يَلۡتَقِطۡهُ بَعۡضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ  ١٠

7.  Certainly were there in Joseph and his brothers signs for those who ask,

8.  When they said, "Joseph and his brother are more beloved to our father than we, while we are a clan. Indeed, our father is in clear error.

9.  Kill Joseph or cast him out to [another] land; the countenance of your father will [then] be only for you, and you will be after that a righteous people."

10.  Said a speaker among them, "Do not kill Joseph but throw him into the bottom of the well; some travelers will pick him up - if you would do [something]."

One day they asked permission from the Prophet Jacob to allow Joseph to hunt animals with them. At first the prophet Jacob did not allow for worry, but they tried to convince the Prophet Jacob that they were able to guard Joseph from all danger. So the Prophet Jacob allowed them to invite Joseph to hunt animals. Only Bunyamin, the son of the Prophet Jacob, remained at home and accompanied his father.

Surah Yusuf verses 11-14:

قَالُواْ يَٰٓأَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأۡمَ۬نَّا يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَنَٰصِحُونَ  ١١ أَرۡسِلۡهُ مَعَنَا غَدٗا يَرۡتَعۡ وَيَلۡعَبۡ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَ  ١٢ قَالَ إِنِّي لَيَحۡزُنُنِيٓ أَن تَذۡهَبُواْ بِهِۦ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأۡكُلَهُ ٱلذِّئۡبُ وَأَنتُمۡ عَنۡهُ غَٰفِلُونَ  ١٣ قَالُواْ لَئِنۡ أَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئۡبُ وَنَحۡنُ عُصۡبَةٌ إِنَّآ إِذٗا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ  ١٤

11.  They said, "O our father, why do you not entrust us with Joseph while indeed, we are to him sincere counselors?

12.  Send him with us tomorrow that he may eat well and play. And indeed, we will be his guardians.

13.  [Jacob] said, "Indeed, it saddens me that you should take him, and I fear that a wolf would eat him while you are of him unaware."

14.  They said, "If a wolf should eat him while we are a [strong] clan, indeed, we would then be losers."
                                                                                                         

Outside, Joseph's brothers held Joseph by force. Joseph, who was too young and helpless, could not fight his brothers. Then Joseph was put in the well. Previously Joseph's clothes had been removed and then covered with the blood of the animals they had killed. Then Joseph's brothers came home, pretending to be sad and crying. They said that Joseph had been eaten by wolves. They also showed Joseph's clothes that had been smeared with animal blood so that their stories would be more convincing. The prophet Jacob who heard the story of his sons became very sad.

Surah Yusuf verses 15-18:

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُواْ بِهِۦ وَأَجۡمَعُوٓاْ أَن يَجۡعَلُوهُ فِي غَيَٰبَتِ ٱلۡجُبِّۚ وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمۡرِهِمۡ هَٰذَا وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ  ١٥ وَجَآءُوٓ أَبَاهُمۡ عِشَآءٗ يَبۡكُونَ  ١٦ قَالُواْ يَٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّا ذَهَبۡنَا نَسۡتَبِقُ وَتَرَكۡنَا يُوسُفَ عِندَ مَتَٰعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئۡبُۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُؤۡمِنٖ لَّنَا وَلَوۡ كُنَّا صَٰدِقِينَ  ١٧ وَجَآءُو عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِۦ بِدَمٖ كَذِبٖۚ قَالَ بَلۡ سَوَّلَتۡ لَكُمۡ أَنفُسُكُمۡ أَمۡرٗاۖ فَصَبۡرٞ جَمِيلٞۖ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمُسۡتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ  ١٨

15.  So when they took him [out] and agreed to put him into the bottom of the well... But We inspired to him, "You will surely inform them [someday] about this affair of theirs while they do not perceive [your identity]."

16.  And they came to their father at night, weeping.

17.  They said, "O our father, indeed we went racing each other and left Joseph with our possessions, and a wolf ate him. But you would not believe us, even if we were truthful."

18.  And they brought upon his shirt false blood. [Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe."

Not long after that, there was a travel group that would take well water which at first they did not know that there was Joseph in it. They found Joseph and took him out of the well. Joseph was taken and hidden in the group's merchandise on his way to Egypt. Joseph will be sold there.

Surah Yusuf verse 19:

وَجَآءَتۡ سَيَّارَةٞ فَأَرۡسَلُواْ وَارِدَهُمۡ فَأَدۡلَىٰ دَلۡوَهُۥۖ قَالَ يَٰبُشۡرَىٰ هَٰذَا غُلَٰمٞۚ وَأَسَرُّوهُ بِضَٰعَةٗۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِمَا يَعۡمَلُونَ  ١٩

19.  And there came a company of travelers; then they sent their water drawer, and he let down his bucket. He said, "Good news! Here is a boy." And they concealed him, [taking him] as merchandise; and Allah was knowing of what they did.
