Time keeps running. Since the Prophet Adam and Eve
met again, they began to build a better life and fill this earth with their
descendants. Eve has given birth to a pair of twins, male and female. A boy
named Qabil, a daughter named Iqlima. In the next period a pair of twins were
born, a boy named Habil, a daughter named Labuda. Prophet Adam and Eve hoped
that their children would bring down their children and grandchildren to breed
the land of God.
Under the loving attention of the Prophet Adam and
Eve, their children grew and developed. Prophet Adam and Eve did not
discriminate between their children. Women are educated by their nature, which
helps mothers take care of the household and other women's duties. While men
are taught to make a living according to their abilities. Qabil works in
agriculture and Habil works in the field of animal husbandry.
When these children mature, God commands Prophet
Adam to marry his son and daughter. Qabil married Habil's younger sister,
Labuda, and Habil married Qabil's younger sister, Iqlima. This is the law of
Allah SWT. This was told by Prophet Adam to his sons and daughters. But Qabil
rejected the provision, because he did not want to marry Labuda whose face was
not as beautiful as the face of his own twin brother, Iqlima.
Qabil has been persuaded by the devil, he prefers to
obey lust rather than reason. Prophet Adam continued to advise Qabil to accept
God's decision, but Qabil refused. Finally the Prophet Adam ordered Qabil and
Abel to offer sacrifices, so that God would determine the resolution of the
problem.
All members of the family of Prophet Adam witnessed
Qabil and Habil offering sacrifices on the hill. Qabil presents the poorest
quality wheat crops. While Habil offers the best goats. With a pounding they
watched from afar. Then came the light / great fire, reaching the offering of
Habil's goat. Qabil's wheat supply is still intact. This means that Habil's
sacrifice was accepted and Qabil's sacrifice was not accepted. Qabil was
disappointed and had to accept the provisions of Allah SWT, even though he
refused in his heart. Then the marriage took place, Habil with Iqlima, Qabil
with Labuda.
Qabil harbored a sense of disappointment for a
while, until finally he could not help himself. Qabil went to Habil and he
killed him, Habil died. Qabil doesn't know what to do with Habil's body. Allah
SWT instructed Qabil through a pair of crows. This incident is explained in
Sura Al-Maidah verses 27 - 31:
27. And recite to them the story of Adam's two
sons, in truth, when they both offered a sacrifice [to Allah], and it was
accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the
latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed,
Allah only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].
28. If you should raise your hand against me to
kill me - I shall not raise my hand against you to kill you. Indeed, I fear
Allah, Lord of the worlds.
29. Indeed I want you to obtain [thereby] my sin
and your sin so you will be among the companions of the Fire. And that is the
recompense of wrongdoers."
30. And his soul permitted to him the murder of
his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers.
31. Then Allah sent a crow searching in the
ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O
woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the body of my
brother?" And he became of the regretful.
Prophet Adam and Eve mourned the incident. But they surrender
and accept the destiny of Allah SWT. They beg for patience and perseverance
and ask forgiveness for their son, Qabil.
This is a lesson so as not to kill others, except in
a state of qisas, as explained in Sura Al-Maidah verse 32:
32. Because of that, We decreed upon the Children
of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done]
in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one
- it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly
come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that,
throughout the land, were transgressors.
