Adam was created alone from clay by Allah Ta'ala. He
was the first male human being created. Then God gave a place of residence for
Prophet Adam, namely in heaven. In heaven, Adam felt lonely because he did not
have friends or partners. In fact, animals in heaven live in pairs. Loneliness
and sadness made him tired. Adam fell asleep under the tree. Allah SWT is
omniscient. Allah SWT knows the contents of Adam's heart which is to have
friends. When Adam slept, Allah SWT created another human being made of Adam's
ribs. The human is of the other type from Adam, she is a woman, her name is Eve
(Hawa).
When Adam woke up, he was surprised. Adam rubbed his
eyes as if in disbelief. He saw someone sitting next to him. The woman is
beautiful and amazing. She is the woman who will get rid of loneliness in Adam,
a woman who has a feeling of affection and is able to give calm and enthusiasm
to men. She will fulfill the human need to obtain offspring that continue to
breed. Women as mothers who will take care of their next generation to replace
the position of the previous generation in struggling in this life.
"Who are you? Why are you here? "Adam
asked.
With a smile Eve replied, "I am Eve who was
created to be your life mate."
Adam was glad to hear that answer, so Eve was happy
when she met Adam. Adam praised and thanked Allah SWT for granting his wishes
so that Adam was not lonely anymore. Eve was destined to be Adam's wife.
The narrative that tells us is that As Saddiy tells from
Abu Shalih and Abu Malik, from Ibn Abbas from the Murrah and Ibn Mas'ud and a
group of friends, that they say, "Allah Ta'ala takes out the Iblis from
heaven and orders Adam to stay in heaven . So Adam walked alone in heaven
without his wife accompanying him. Then he took a nap then woke up. Suddenly
near his head sat a woman created by God from his ribs. Adam asked her,
"Who are you?" The woman replied, "I am a woman." Adam
asked again, 'What are you created for?' The woman answered, 'So you feel calm
with me.' So the angels ask Adam because they know the level of his knowledge, ‘
Who is the name of O Adam? ' Adam answered, 'Her name is Eve'. ‘Why is she
called Eve? '‘ Because she was created from something alive' '.
Muhammad bin Ishaq mentioned from Ibn Abbas that Eve
was created from Adam's shortest left rib when Adam was sleeping and then
wrapped in meat.
Both of them revel in heaven all day. A beautiful
place of residence is a gift from God to them. There are many rivers that
continue to flow and green trees that will not die. In heaven there are also
eternal springs that are never hot and cold and taste good. The wind blew soft
and fresh, soothing the body. When someone breathes the air of heaven, he will
feel happy. They have fun as much as they like.
It was a happy feeling for both of them. God has
created them with His power and fulfilled their needs. Angels love them,
because God creates and loves them. Adam and Eve strolled in the beauty of the
garden. On the banks of the river there are many beautiful glittering stones.
The water is clean and fresh. There is also a river of honey and milk. Birds
flew and flowers blossomed to emit its beauty.
They may eat and drink whatever is in heaven. Food,
drinks and fruits of heaven are available to them. The dishes in heaven look
good, the colors are tempting, the aroma is fragrant, and of course it tastes
delicious. They can also take shelter and rest in the shade of the trees of
heaven. But there is one fruit that Allah SWT forbids them, the Khuldi fruit.
They always pass the fruit tree, but just look at it, because God has prevented
them from approaching it and eating the fruit. This has been explained in the
Qur'an.
Surah Al-Baqarah verse 35:
35. And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and
your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever
you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the
wrongdoers."
Surah Al-A'raaf verse 19:
وَيَٰٓـَٔادَمُ
ٱسۡكُنۡ أَنتَ وَزَوۡجُكَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ فَكُلَا مِنۡ حَيۡثُ شِئۡتُمَا وَلَا
تَقۡرَبَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ١٩
19. And "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife,
in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest
you be among the wrongdoers."
That fruit will be used as a means by Iblis to
plunge Adam and Eve so that they do not feel the joy of living in heaven again.
