Noah always conveyed the teachings of Allah SWT to
his people, but always encountered a dead end. Noah's followers also did not increase. Therefore
Noah complained of his people to Allah SWT.
Surah Al-Mu'minun verse 26:
26. [Noah] said, "My Lord, support me
because they have denied me."
Surah Ash-Syu'ara verses 117 and 118:
117. He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have
denied me.
118. Then judge between me and them with decisive
judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."
Surah Al-Qamar verse 10:
10. So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am
overpowered, so help."
Allah SWT has heard the prayer of Noah and granted the
prayer of Noah. Allah Almighty gave instructions to Noah to make a huge ark.
The Ark could save Noah and his people who believed in the punishment of Allah
SWT. Whereas the unbelievers will be drowned with a very large flood, so that
they will not survive. All perished.
Surah Hud verse 37:
37. And construct the ship under Our observation
and Our inspiration and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged;
indeed, they are [to be] drowned."
Surah Al-Mu'minun verses 27 and 28:
27. So We inspired to him, "Construct the
ship under Our observation, and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and
the oven overflows, put into the ship from each [creature] two mates and your
family, except those for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do
not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be
drowned.
28. And when you have boarded the ship, you and
those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allah who has saved us from the wrongdoing
people.'
During the process of making the ark by Noah and his
followers on a hill, the people who denied made fun of him and ridiculed him.
Some even acted nosy against Noah's ark.
Surah Hud verses 38-39:
38. And he constructed the ship, and whenever an
assembly of the eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He
said, "If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule.
39. And you are going to know who will get a
punishment that will disgrace him [on earth] and upon whom will descend an
enduring punishment [in the Hereafter]."
In accordance with the command of Allah SWT, Noah
and his followers entered the ark which was finished. Noah also brought the
animals which were each paired into the ark.
Surah Hud verses 40 and 41:
40. [So it was], until when Our command came and
the oven overflowed, We said, "Load upon the ship of each [creature] two
mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and
[include] whoever has believed." But none had believed with him, except a
few.
41. And [Noah] said, "Embark therein; in the
name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and
Merciful."
After Noah, his faithful followers, and the animals
in the ark, the clear sky turned black with a thick cloud of clouds. A strong
wind began to blow against everything above the earth. Then came a tremendous
heavy rain, along with the emergence of water that emitted from the earth in
very large amounts to the surface. There has never been a rain so thick, like
pouring out from the sky. The buildings began to be submerged by floods, a
powerful storm made people panic.
From a distance Noah saw one of his sons, Kan'an,
running to the top of the mountain. Because of his affection for his son, Noah
called his son to immediately get on the ark to be safe. But he proudly ignored
his father and continued to run to the top of the mountain. He thought that the
flood was just an ordinary disaster that immediately subsided and he felt safe
on the mountain. Kan'an did not want to follow the teachings of Noah. Kan'an
preferred to live with unbelievers, so he did not want to ride Noah's ark.
Surah Hud verses 42 and 43:
42. And it sailed with them through waves like
mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my
son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers."
43. [But] he said, "I will take refuge on a
mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no
protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy."
And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.
Noah felt sad. After all Kan'an is his own son. So
Noah asked Allah SWT to save his son. But Allah SWT refused the request of
Noah. Even though Kan'an was the son of Noah, he was an ungodly son and did not
want to believe.
After the flood subsided, the ark anchored on the
Judi hill. Noah and all the passengers were ordered down from the ark.
Surah Hud verses 44-48:
44. And it was said, "O earth, swallow your
water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the
matter was accomplished, and the ship came to rest on the [mountain of] Judiyy.
And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people."
45. And Noah called to his Lord and said,
"My Lord, indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true;
and You are the most just of judges!"
46. He said, "O Noah, indeed he is not of
your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous, so ask Me
not for that about which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you
be among the ignorant."
47. [Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in
You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me
and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers."
48. It was said, "O Noah, disembark in
security from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from
those with you. But other nations [of them] We will grant enjoyment; then there
will touch them from Us a painful punishment."
The unbelievers who opposed Noah were perished by a
terrible disaster. Noah and his followers lived and occupied this earth.
Surah Al-A'raaf verse 64:
64. But they denied him, so We saved him and
those who were with him in the ship. And We drowned those who denied Our signs.
Indeed, they were a blind people.
