THE STORY OF THE PROPHET ABRAHAM - Debate with King Nimrod

After Prophet Abraham did not die when he was burned because he was saved by Allah the Almighty, in fact many people began to believe the truth of his teachings. But because they are still afraid of King Nimrod's threat, they are still many who are infidels. King Nimrod who had considered himself a god did not want to acknowledge the miracle of Prophet Abraham.

Prophet Abraham continued his mission to invite humans to only worship Allah SWT. This made King Nimrod even more angry. King Nimrod and his followers were afraid that more people would follow the teachings of Prophet Abraham. So King Nimrod called on Prophet Abraham to go before him.

"How dare you spread slander," said King Nimrod. "Is there a god besides me? I am the god you must worship. I can manage and destroy everything. Who is more powerful than me? The law I set must apply, my decision must be carried out. Everyone submits to me, why do you oppose me?

Prophet Abraham replied, "My Lord is Allah. He is the one who should be worshiped. He has created you and me. He is able to give life and death who He wants. He is the Creator of heaven and earth."

King Nimrod denied this with a ridiculous opinion, "I can also give life and death."

There are two slaves. King Nimrod holds a sword. One of the slaves was beheaded and died. Another person is left alive.

King Nimrod said, "Look! That is proof that I can give life and death."

Prophet Abraham said, "It is not deadly, but kills in a savage and cruel way. My Lord can rise the sun from the east to the west. If you are indeed in power, then try rise the sun from west to east!"

Nimrod was silent not able to speak. The challenge of Prophet Abraham made him confused, King Nimrod could not argue again. King Nimrod was defeated by the intelligence of the mind of the Prophet Abraham.

Since that time King Nimrod regarded Prophet Abraham as his great enemy.

Surah Al-Baqarah verse 258:

258.  Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allah had given him kingship? When Abraham said, "My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death," he said, "I give life and cause death." Abraham said, "Indeed, Allah brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west." So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
