Isaac is the son of Prophet Abraham with Sarah. Ishaq
(Isaac) means to laugh. It was given the name Isaac because Sarah laughed after
hearing from the angels that she would get pregnant, even though Sarah was 99
years old and the age of Prophet Abraham was 120 years. There is also a history
that explains that at that time Sarah was 90 years old and Prophet Abraham was
100 years old. Sarah felt that she was too old to get pregnant and give birth,
so news of her being pregnant and having children made her wonder and laugh. Isaac
was born in the city of Kana'an. The news about the birth of Isaac is told in
the Holy Qur’an.
Surah Hud verses 69-73:

Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said,
"Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf.
70. But when he saw their hands not reaching for
it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear
not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."
71. And his Wife was standing, and she smiled.
Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob.
72. She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth
while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an
amazing thing!"

of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the
house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable."

you not eat?"
