Allah
Almighty gave instructions to Ibrahim. Ibrahim was appointed a Prophet and
Apostle. He was given revelation so that true beliefs about God were not just
conclusions, but came from God's decree.
Allah
SWT teaches that besides the real world there is also a supernatural world.
Every human who dies will be resurrected in the afterlife. Prophet Ibrahim, who
was determined to preach to the shirk. Prophet Ibrahim was actually sure about
the day of vengeance in the hereafter. Then the Prophet Ibrahim wanted to get
more tangible instructions and convince his heart. He pleaded with Allah SWT to
be shown to him how Allah SWT revived dead creatures.
Prophet
Ibrahim prayed, "My Lord, show me how You have brought to life dead beings."
Allah
SWT answered with a question, "Do you not believe it, Ibrahim?"
Ibrahim
replied, "I have believed, but so that my heart is more confident."
Allah
SWT ordered Prophet Ibrahim to take four birds. Every bird is cut into pieces
and its body is separated. Small pieces of the four birds were crushed and then
made into four pieces. Each pile is placed at the top of four distant hills.
Then
the Prophet Ibrahim was ordered to summon the destroyed birds. With the
permission of Allah SWT and His power, there came four birds that flew intact
and lived again as usual and the four birds approached Prophet Ibrahim. Now the
Prophet Ibrahim saw for himself how Allah Almighty could revive His dead
creatures as Allah created them from something that did not exist. Now the
prophet Abraham's belief about the power of Allah, the Most Enlightening and
the Most Deadly, is increasing.
Surah
Al-Baqarah verse 260:
260. And [mention] when Abraham said, "My
Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." [Allah] said, "Have you
not believed?" He said, "Yes, but [I ask] only that my heart may be
satisfied." [Allah] said, "Take four birds and commit them to
yourself. Then [after slaughtering them] put on each hill a portion of them;
then call them - they will come [flying] to you in haste. And know that Allah
is Exalted in Might and Wise."
