Surat Al-Anbiya 'verse 71:
وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَلُوطًا
إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ ٱلَّتِي بَٰرَكۡنَا فِيهَا لِلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ٧١
71. And We delivered him (Abraham) and Lot to the
land which We had blessed for the worlds.
Surat Al-Ankabut verse 26:
26. And Lot believed him. [Abraham] said,
"Indeed, I will emigrate to [the service of] my Lord. Indeed, He is the
Exalted in Might, the Wise."
Because the land of Babylon was no longer safe for
Prophet Abraham and his wife, they decided to migrate to the land of Sham
(Palestine), it was by the will of Allah SWT. They migrated with Lot (the
Prophet's nephew) who later also became a Prophet and some of his followers
left Babylon.
In a short time, the country of Sham was hit by the
dangers of starvation and infectious diseases. Therefore, Prophet Abraham and
his followers decided to move to Egypt.
Egypt at that time was ruled by a cruel and selfish
king. He likes to grab beautiful women even though she is married.
When the King of Egypt heard that Sarah, the wife of
Prophet Abraham, was a beautiful woman, Sarah and Prophet Abraham were called
to face the King of Egypt. The king of Egypt does have a strange habit. He
seized beautiful women just to show his power.
The King of Egypt asked Prophet Abraham, "Who
is the woman with you?"
"My sister," replied Prophet Abraham, he
deliberately lied. If the Prophet Abraham said the truth, Prophet Abraham would
be killed by the King of Egypt and his wife was taken away.
The action of Prophet Abraham is a lesson, may lie
in a state of urgency and endanger danger. Actually they are brothers in the
faith, so what he say can be true.
Finally the Prophet Abraham and his wife may live
there. One day Sarah healed the illness of the King of Egypt, that the king's
hands closed and could not be moved. For Sarah's services, the King of Egypt
gave a gift, a slave girl named Hajar. Then Hajar became the wife of Prophet Abraham.
In Egypt, the Prophet Abraham lived in peace and
prosperity. This makes the native Egyptians feel jealous. So the Prophet Abraham
decided to return to Palestine.
Since that time Palestine was used as a place to
live. That country is where the Prophet Abraham worshiped Allah.
In Palestine, Hajar gave birth to sons named Ismail.
Then Hajar and Ismail were moved to Mecca. Some time later three male guests
who were actually angels came to the house of Prophet Abraham. They gave word
that Sarah had conceived a son. That child is named Ishaq. The angel relates
that they will carry out the decision of Allah SWT which is destroying the
people of Sadum, which is also the residence of Prophet Lot. Prophet Abraham
begged the Prophet Lot, his family, and the believers to be saved. They were
indeed included as survivors, except the wife of the Prophet Lot. The story in
this last paragraph, God willing, will be discussed in the next chapter.
