Quraish
infidels have made various efforts to stop the preaching of Prophet Muhammad,
but have always failed so that they are increasingly angry. So they tried to
fight Rasulullah by persuading the Messenger's uncle, Abu Talib. Abu Talib did
not adhere to Islamic teachings, but was determined to protect Rasulullah in
preaching.
Quraish
infidels once met Abu Talib and said, "Abu Talib, your nephew has insulted
our idols, denounced our religion, did not respect our hopes and deviated from
our ancestors. So now, you have to stop him. If not then let us face it.
Because you are also like us, you don't agree with him, so you just have to
face him".
But
Abu Talib answered them well, so that Prophet Muhammad could still preach and
his followers more and more.
One
day, the Quraish infidels returned to Abu Talib to offer another method. They
came with a handsome and strong young man named ‘Umara ibn Walid ibn Mughira to
be handed over to Abu Talib, and instead Rasulullah had to be surrendered to
the infidels of Quraish to be killed. Of course Abu Talib immediately refused
the strange offer.
Then
the Quraish infidels returned to Abu Talib and said, "Abu Talib, you are a
respectable person among us. We ask you to stop your nephew, but you don't do
it. We will not be silent on people who curse our ancestors, do not respect our
hopes, and denounce our idols, before you tell him to be quiet or we oppose him
until one party perishes ".
Abu
Talib felt very hard to separate or be hostile to his community. He also didn't
have the heart to give up his nephew or make him disappointed. He felt confused
about what he had to choose.
Because
the threat of Quraish was taken seriously, Abu Talib immediately told Prophet
Muhammad, "Take care of me, so do you. Do not burden me with things I
cannot bear".
The
uncle seemed to feel starting to be helpless and unable to bear the burden. As
if he wants to leave and release the burden. Though the strength of the Muslims
is still weak. They would not be able to fight against the infidel of Quraish.
Quraish infidels has more power, wealth, preparation, and number of people.
Whereas the Muslims have nothing but the truth. The Messenger invited people to
be on the right path. Strong faith is the strength for them to live this life.
So
with a soul full of strength and faith, Rasulullah stated firmly, "O my
uncle, for the sake of Allah, if they put the sun in my right hand and the moon
in my left hand so that I leave this matter until victory in my hand or I am
destroyed, surely I will not leave it ".
How
great is the power of faith and truth, Abu Talib trembled when he heard
Rasulullah's answer. It turned out that his nephew's determination was already
so high. Prophet Muhammad stood up. His tears clogged because of his uncle's
sudden attitude, but he did not hesitate to continue the path that had been
taken.
Abu
Talib felt fascinated by the personality of Prophet Muhammad, so that the
spirit of Abu Talib arose again after hearing a firm answer from Rasulullah.
Abu Talib continued to protect his nephew until the end of his life. He said,
"Go away, my nephew, and tell me what you like, for the sake of God I will
not give you to anyone forever".
Abu
Talib recounted the attitude and words of Prophet Muhammad to Banu Hashim and
Banu Muttalib. He requested that Prophet Muhammad be protected from the actions
of the infidels of Quraish. They accepted this request, except Abu Lahab who
openly declared hostility and joined the opposing party.
