After
the second Bai'at Aqabah and the migration of the Meccan Muslims to Yathrib
(Medina), in the 14th year of prophethood, the infidels of Quraish felt that
the strength of Prophet Muhammad and the Muslims was getting bigger and worried
if it was a threat to the position of Quraish. At that time only Prophet
Muhammad and a few Muslims still lived in Mecca (Mekkah). So the infidels of
Quraish held a discussion at Daarunnadwah, a place they used to use for meetings,
to discuss what they would do to fight the power of Prophet Muhammad. After
going through various proposals, they agreed to kill Rasulullah by sending
young men from each tribe with a sharp sword.
Quraish
infidels planned to kill Rasulullah at night, fearing that he would migrate to
Yathrib and strengthen himself there and all the disasters that might befall
Mecca and overtake their trade with Sham. Indeed, no one knows that at that
time Rasulullah will migrate or not, because he indeed can keep secrets well so
that no one knows the certainty. Even Abu Bakr, who once prepared two camels
when asking permission from Rasulullah to migrate, was then suspended, knowing
little about it. At that time Rasulullah was still waiting for Allah's command
to migrate to Yathrib.
When
the decision of the infidels of Quraish to kill Rasulullah was determined, the
angel Gabriel (Jibril) immediately told him about the evil plan to Rasulullah.
Gabriel also informed that Allah SWT had allowed him to migrate to Yathrib,
following most of the Muslims of Mecca who had already migrated first. Jibril
also said, "On this night, do not sleep in the bed you usually use to
sleep". Then Rasulullah immediately went to the Abu Bakr's house, on a hot
day and during times that people rarely passed by.
Arriving
at Abu Bakr's house, Rasulullah asked him that no one from his family would be
in the house, so that when he explained the travel plans to move to him no one
else would hear him. Abu Bakr received it well and was very happy because he
was chosen as a friend who accompanied Rasulullah during the hijrah. After
that, Rasulullah returned to his house and waited for the night to arrive.
At
the same time, Quraish's pagan leaders were ready to carry out their evil
plans. They planned to take it seriously during the day. They have chosen
eleven stout young men from each tribe to carry out the plan.
When
the dark night had arrived, the young men left for the Rasulullah's house. They
moved by spying on the Rasulullah's house and surrounded it, fearing that
Rasulullah would run away. If they see him sleeping, then they will carry out
the execution. Based on the plan, they will carry out the execution at
midnight. They were very confident that the execution would be successful. At
that time Abu Jahal also came with them and said, "Indeed Muhammad
suspected that if you followed him, you would be the leader of the Arabs and
non-Arabs, you were raised after your death and you were given a paradise like
a Jordanian garden. If you don't follow it, you will be slaughtered, you will
be raised after your death, you will be given hell and burned by it. " But
in every incident experienced by Rasulullah there is always Allah SWT who
protects him and acts according to His will. Allah says in Surah Al Anfal verse
30:
30. And [remember, O
Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or
kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah
is the best of planners.
So
at this very critical time, Rasulullah ordered Ali bin Abi Talib to sleep on
his bed using the blanket he used to use, namely the green coat from Hadzramaut.
He asked if he had migrated then Ali had to stay first in Mecca to complete
matters, they are goods mandated by
people entrusted to him.
After
that Rasulullah came out through their siege safely and smoothly, because at
that time Allah SWT had removed their vision so they could not see Rasulullah.
Even Rasulullah had taken the land in two hands and put it on their heads. He
also said, "Right, I did say that and you (Abu Jahal) are one of the
inhabitants of hell."
Surah
Yasin verse 9:
9. And We have put before
them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see.
Then
on the same night, Rasulullah went to the Abu Bakr's house. Rasulullah left his
house on the 27th night of month Safar in the 14th year prophethood.
Meanwhile
the besiegers of Rasulullah's house were still waiting for the execution time.
But there came someone who passed by where they were while asking, "What
are you waiting for?", They replied, "Muhammad", the passer-by
said, "You have been deceived and failed, for Allah's sake, he has left
you, and he has pour dust on your head". They said, "By Allah, we did
not see it," then they washed the dust off their heads.
Then
they immediately entered the Rasulullah's house and saw someone sleeping. They
thought that the person was Rasulullah who was sleeping under his blanket. But
it turns out that what they see in bed was Ali bin Abi Talib.
Arriving
at Abu Bakr's house, Rasulullah and Abu Bakr prepared everything to migrate and
they departed through unusual roads and times, that is through the back door
towards the opposite south from Yathrib before dawn, then hiding in Tsur's
cave, just somewhere they will turn north through an unusual road. On the way
to Yathrib they faced various challenges, but in the protection of Allah SWT
they succeeded in reaching Yahtrib and building new forces in preaching until
Islam achieved victory.
