Prophet
Muhammad left the house on the 27th night in the month Safar in the 14th year
of prophethood. He headed to Abu Bakr's house first and both went together to
Yathrib (Madinah/Medina) to catch up with the Muhajirites who had already
migrated first. Their journey was not easy. They pass through very difficult
obstacles. They hid in Thawr's cave so that it was not found and captured by
the Quraish infidels. Then they took a road that was not commonly passed by
humans accompanied by a guide and had been chased by Suraqah ibn Malik, one of
the infidels who wanted to get a prize if he succeeded in capturing Prophet
Muhammad. But under the protection of Allah SWT, both of them managed to avoid
various distresses.
According
to the history of Ibn Ishaq, it comes from Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn Az Zubair
from Urwah ibn Az Zubair from Abdurrahman ibn Uwaim ibn Saidah from the Muslims
in Yathrib, that when they heard Prophet Muhammad had come out of Mecca and his
arrival was near, they out of the village after the morning prayer (Subuh) to
await his arrival. They do not move until the hot sun. If there is no shelter,
they enter the house. On the day of the arrival of Prophet Muhammad, they sat
as before. When there was no shelter, they returned to their homes. Prophet
Muhammad came when they entered the house. The person who first saw his arrival
was a Jew. Then he shouted, "O Bani Qailah (Ansar), here comes your
grandfather". So they immediately left the house to meet Prophet Muhammad
who was sheltering under a date palm tree with Abu Bakr, which when viewed the
age of both were almost the same. Most of Yathrib's Muslims had never seen him
before. The Ansar gathered around Prophet Muhammad and could not distinguish
between Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr. When the place was unable to shade
Prophet Muhammad, Abu Bakr stood up and sheltered Prophet Muhammad in his
clothes. So they found out about Prophet Muhammad. At that time, the Prophet
Muhammad was on the verge of Yathrib.
On
Monday the 8th of month Rabiul Awal in the 14th year of prophethood or the
first year of the Hijrah, Prophet Muhammad stopped at Quba after traveling a
long distance from Mecca. Quba is about two farsakh (1 farsakh 5,5 km) from Yathrib. He was there for four
days with Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq and built the Quba mosque, then prayed there. That
is the mosque that was built for the first time on the basis of faith and piety
after Muhammad's prophethood.
In
Quba, tProphet Muhammad stopped at the house of Kulthum ibn Hidam, but in
another narration it was mentioned that Prophet Muhammad stopped at the house
of Sa'ad ibn Khaithamah, and some said that he stopped at As'ad ibn Zurarah's
house, and the first history was more precise . According to history, when
Prophet Muhammad left the house of Kulthum ibn Hidam, he sat at the house of
Sa'ad ibn Khaithamah, because Sa'ad was a bachelor. The house of Sa'ad ibn
Khaithamah is the home of the bachelors of the companions of the Prophet
Muhammad from the Muhajirin. From here it can be said that Prophet Muhammad stopped
at the house of Sa'ad bin Khaithamah. Wallahu Allam. (according to Ibn Ishaq)
Whereas
Abu Bakr stopped at the house of Khabib ibn Isaf, one of the Al Harts ibn Al
Khazraj in As Sunh. There are also those who say that Abu Bakr stopped at the
house of Kharijah ibn Zaid ibn Abu Zuhair. (according to Ibn Ishaq)
Elsewhere,
Ali ibn Abi Talib immediately followed Prophet Muhammad to migrate to Yathrib
(Medina) after completing the affairs ordered by the Prophet. The matter is to
return the mandate items entrusted to Prophet Muhammad to their owners in
Mecca. After that, Ali went alone to leave Mecca on foot. The night he walked,
he hid in the afternoon. The struggle was very tiring he did for two full
weeks, to follow his religious brothers. After a long journey, Ali met Prophet
Muhammad at Quba.
There
is a unique story experienced by Ali ibn Abu Talib. When stopped at Quba
overnight or two nights at a house of unmarried Muslim women. At midnight, Ali
saw a man come to the Muslim woman and knock on the door of her house. The
woman came out to meet the man and the man gave her something. Ali suspects the
man and asks the woman, "O Servant of Allah, who is the man you meet every
night and he gives you something that I do not know, even though you are a
Muslim woman who is not married?". The woman replied, "He is Sahl ibn
Hunaif. He knows I'm not married. At dusk, he went to the place of the idols of
his people, then broke it and gave it to me". Ali said, "Make the
idols firewood!" (Ibn Ishaq said that this hadith was told to him by Hind
ibn Sa'ad ibn Sahl ibn Hunaif)
On
Friday, Rasulullah and Abu Bakr left Quba to go to Yathrib at the behest of
Allah. A group of Banu Najjar escorted the Prophet's journey. Bani Najjar who
escorted him was his uncles from the mother's side, Siti Aminah. Previously,
Rasulullah sent messengers to Banu Najjar to pick them up. So immediately, they
went with their swords and went out to meet Rasulullah. They all met in the
village of Banu Salim ibn Auf, then they performed Friday prayers.
After
that, the Prophet was greeted with joy by the Muslim community at Yathrib. From
that time the name of the city of Yathrib was changed to Madinatur Rasul (City
of the Messenger), then it was compared with the name (city) of Medina.
