Nabawi Mosque in now era

The
first action taken by Prophet Muhammad while settling in Medina was to build
the Prophet's Mosque (Masjid Nabawi). The location of the construction was in
the place where the Prophet's camels were seated when he first arrived in
Medina in the first year of the Hijrah. The land was purchased from two
orphans, namely Sahl and Suhail, both sons of Amr from Banu Najjar. Initially
the land was a place for drying dates. While the mosque was built, Prophet
Muhammad lived with Abu Ayyub Khalid ibn Zaid Al Ansari.
In
the land there are cemeteries of polytheists, old houses, and several trees.
Then Prophet Muhammad ordered to dismantle the tombs of the polytheists, tear
down old buildings, and cut down trees in that place.
Then
the mosque was built in the first year of the Hijri. Prophet Muhammad also
worked directly in that project. He raised a brick while chanting the verse,
O
God, there is no life other than the afterlife
Forgive
the Ansar and Muhajirin people
This
is able to increase the enthusiasm of Muslims both Muhajirin and Ansar to work
seriously. They also said, "If the Prophet works while we rest, this is a
misguided work".
The
mosque is on wide land. The mosque's Qibla faces the Baitul Maqdis (before the
Qibla is changed to the Grand Mosque/Masjidil Haram). Both sides of the mihrab
are made of stone, while the walls of the mosque are made of brick and soil.
The roof of the mosque is made of date palm fronds which only cover a portion of
the mosque and its pillars from the base of the date palm trees, while the
floor of the mosque is leveled with gravel and sand. There are three doors in
the mosque. The length of the mosque from the Qibla (front) to the rear is
about one hundred cubits, so is the width. The foundation is about three meters
tall.
At
night there is no lighting in the mosque. It's just that at Isha' prayer time
there is lighting by burning straw. This lasted nine years. After that use
lighting mounted on the stem of the date which is used as a support for the
roof.
After
the mosque was completed, Rasulullah built a housing for his wives around the
mosque, which was made of soil with a date palm frond roof. Then he moved from
the house of Abu Ayyub Al Ansari. The Prophet's residence was also no more
luxurious than the mosque, but naturally it would be more closed.
The
construction of the Nabawi Mosque and housing did not force anyone, because
everything was very simple, adjusted to the instructions of Rasulullah.
Besides
being used as a place of prayer, at that time the Nabawi Mosque was also used
as a gathering place for Muslims to discuss various important matters and
resolve various matters between them. In this mosque, the Muslims accept
various Islamic teachings as a holy guideline. All different tribes can meet
and talk after they have always fought. In addition, the mosque also functions
as a residence for Muhajirites who do not have a place to live or do not have
relatives in Medina.
The
following is the first advice of Rasulullah in Medina.
Ibn
Ishaq said, "The first advice of Prophet Muhammad, as said to me from Abu
Salamah ibn Abdurrahman is - and we take refuge in Allah from saying something
to Rasulullah which he did not say. Rasulullah stood before the Muslims, then
praised Allah and flattered Him. After that he said, "Amma Ba'du, O
people, prepare for you, surely for the sake of Allah, that one of you must
die. He will leave his goats without shepherds. God must have said to him and
there were no translators or barriers between them, 'Has not come to you My
Messenger, then he delivered what he received to you? Didn't I give you wealth
and overestimate you, but why don't you offer something for you? He looked
right and left, but saw nothing. He looked forward, he saw nothing except Hell.
Whoever is able to protect his face from hell, even if only with half the
dates, let him do it. Whoever does not get it, let him protect his face from
hell with good words, because really good is rewarded with ten goodness up to
seven hundred times more. Finally Assalamu'alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh
".
This
is another Rasulullah's advice.
Ibn
Ishaq said, "Prophet Muhammad preached again to the Muslims. He said,
‘Verily all praise belongs to Allah. I praise Him and ask for His help. We take
refuge in God from our evil and our mistakes. Whoever is instructed by God, no
one can lead him astray. Whoever is led astray by God, no one can give him a
clue. I testify that there is no God who has the right to be worshiped except
Allah, there is nothing equal to Him. Indeed, the best words are the Book of
Allah Tabaraka wa Ta'ala. It was fortunate that the person whose heart was
decorated by Allah with His Book, put it into Islam after he had previously
disbelieved and chose Al Quran rather than human words. Indeed the Qur'an is
the best and most perfect word. Love whatever God loves and love God with all
your hearts. You don't get bored with the word of God and remember him. Don't
let your heart be hard on the Qur'an, because in fact Allah chooses from what
He created. Indeed, Allah has chosen the best deeds, chosen His servants, good
words and what is given to humans, which is lawful and unclean. Therefore,
worship Allah, do not associate Him with anything, fear Him with true fear, be
honest with Allah in the kindness that you say with your mouth and let you love
each other because Allah is among you, because Allah is very hate if His
covenant is violated. Finally, Assalamu'alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh’''.
