According
to a history, the Prophet Dhul-Kifl had a real name Bechar (Basyar) and he was
the son of the Prophet Job and Rahmah. The Prophet Dhul-Kifl was sent to the
Amorians in Damascus. Prophet Dhul-Kifl lived in a country led by a wise King.
The king is getting older and does not have a replacement candidate. One day,
the King held a competition by gathering his people and said, "Who of you
is able to continue to be patient. Every night you establish prayer and every
afternoon fasting?"
Initially
there was no one who expressed his ability to do so. Then there was a young man
named Basyar who stated that he could do it. This event made Basyar called Dhul-Kifl
(Dzulkifli), which means capable. Then Dhul-Kifl was appointed king. At night
he worshiped Allah SWT and during the day he fasted. Dhul-Kifl also served as
chairman of the judge. At night Dhul-Kifl only slept in a short time.
Surah
Al-Anbiya 'verse 85:
وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَإِدۡرِيسَ
وَذَا ٱلۡكِفۡلِۖ كُلّٞ مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ
٨٥
85. And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and
Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.
Surah
Shaad verse 48:
48. And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl,
and all are among the outstanding.
One
night a guest visited Dhul-Kifl's residence. Actually the guest was a satan who
disguised himself as a human and intended to disturb Dhul-Kifl. Satan wants to
make Dhul-Kifl feeling emotional.
"What
made you coming here tonight?" Asked Dhul-Kifl.
"I
am a traveler, I was robbed on the way," answered the satan in disguise.
"Please
come to the court at the time of tomorrow morning or evening," said Dhul-Kifl.
The
next day, the mysterious person did not arrive in the morning, even though Dhul-Kifl
was waiting for him. When it was evening, the mysterious person also did not
come. However, when Dhul-Kifl was about to go to sleep, the satan came again.
Dhul-Kifl
asked, "Why did you not come at the time of your trial? "
"The
robber turned out to be clever. When the robbery session returned my items. But
when the trial was over my items were seized again," answered the satan.
One
night King Dhul-Kifl was about to go to sleep. Dhul-Kifl ordered his guards to
close and lock all the doors. Dhul-Kifl was about to go to bed. At that time Dhul-Kifl
heard that someone was heading to his place.
"Who
entered?" asked Dhul-Kifl.
"There
is no one, sir," replied the guardian soldier. Dhul-Kifl remains convinced
that there is someone in his home environment. Then Dhul-Kifl began checking.
Apparently there was someone in his house, even though all the doors were
locked tightly. How can that person enter.
Dhul-Kifl
said, "Actually you are a satan, not a human!"
Satan
claimed, "Yes, I am a satan who tests your patience. It turns out that you
are someone who is able to carry out the statement before."
Dhul-Kifl
is a person who is very patient, always uses his mind in dealing with problems.
Dhul-Kifl was never angry with the guests.
One
day, there was a rebellion in his country which was carried out by people who
were very rebellious to Allah SWT. King Dhul-Kifl ordered the soldiers and his
people to fight against the rebellious rebels. But the people did not dare to
fight, they were afraid to die. The people are willing to join the war if King Dhul-Kifl
wants to pray to Allah SWT so that they can live and survive until the war is
over. King Dhul-Kifl was not angry knowing the intentions of his people and
praying to Allah SWT. Allah SWT has known the request of the people of King Dhul-Kifl
and granted the prayer.
The
people finally dared to fight against the rebels. They gain victory and no one
dies on their side. The state is back conducive.
