As a mosque design that is located
in an integrated building complex, namely the design of the Shahada mosque
(masjid Syahadat) which is part of the Betterpad-Ray (Benteng Terpadu
Raya/Great Integrated Fortress) model/maquette, this design was created to provide
comfort and fluency in various activities within the mosque. As a design for a
building complex that is expected to get many visitors from both local and
international, or for offices that have strategic functions, certainly the best
facilities will be made to meet the needs of visitors. The Shahada Mosque is a
Javanese and Arabic architectural design that has a large enough size that can
accommodate at least 1500 people. It has a distinctive architecture with the
Shahada tower as the most prominent as a sign of a mosque when viewed from a
distance. With the beauty of the tower, at least people hope that it will also
be balanced with a good place of support. So here will be explained about the
supporting facilities needed by the administrators and visitors.
For the administrators, in the
Shadaha mosque (Masjid Syahadat) there will be an audio room to control the
sound system inside and outside the mosque. This room can be located next to
the mihrab, because in the mihrab and mimbar there is a microphone that is used
by preachers, lecturers, or those who read the Qur'an, so that the arrangement
of the sound system can be done at close range. For the Shahada mosque there
will be rules regarding the use of the sound system according to the
Instruction of the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance Number Kep /
D / 101/1978 (Indonesia). For example, the call to prayer must use loudspeakers
outside, while lectures, kutbah, or recitation of prayers usually use
loudspeakers inside. The sound systems will be arranged as well as possible so
that worshipers can be heard in every corner of the mosque so that the voices
heard are clearer. For loudspeakers to come out, they will be placed in the
Shahada mosque tower, precisely below lafadz Allah and Muhammad.
Shaded parking lot on the left, management office and kitchen on the right
Parking lots are a necessity for
every public place, as well as for the Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat). A large
mosque must have adequate parking facilities. The existence of parking lots is
expected to be sufficient and provide comfort for visitors who bring vehicles.
I planned that the parking facilities must be in accordance with the visitors
capacity in the Shahada mosque, both during ordinary days, Friday prayers, Id
prayers, and tarawih prayers. I designed a shaded parking lot in the form of an
extension on the left side of the mosque, located closer to the gate of the
Betterpad-Ray complex than the mosque building. This is to make it easier for
visitors to park vehicles when they enter the building complex. When entering,
visitors can see the parking sign listed. Shaded parking lots of course to
protect vehicles from rain or excessive heat. The capacity is around 20 cars.
Indeed, not all vehicles can enter
the shaded parking lot, but the yard around the Shahada mosque is quite
extensive and if possible the main yard of the Betterpad-Ray complex can be
used as a parking lot. Then there will be a parking attendant who arranges
parking, and there is no parking fee. If visitors want to pay, you should fill
in the infaq box in the mosque, because some of the money can be used to
improve parking services or to hire parking attendants.
Betterpad-Ray's main gate
Betterpad-Ray's southwest gate
For large mosques there is a security
post near the entrance as a place to monitor activities in the mosque area,
especially visitor activities. Security posts are indeed needed because of the
large number of visitors and the vast mosque area. Because the Shahada mosque
is part of a building complex, the security post is indeed used for the entire
building complex. For the nearest security post is located at the main gate and
the small gate to the southwest of the Shahada mosque (mihrab direction). For
each gate of the Betterpad-Ray complex there are two security posts located on
the right and left of the gate so that the security system is tighter and
easier when going in and out of visitors. For security in the Shahada mosque
area CCTV will be connected to the mosque's office.
The existence of open land or mosque
yard can support the existence of the mosque as a place for community
activities. The yard of the mosque can be arranged as a place of prayer in
congregation if the room in the Shahada mosque is fully filled. This is common
when performing Id prayers. The mosque's courtyard next to and behind the
mosque until the main yard of the Betterpad-Ray complex can be used for prayer
in congregation. In addition, the mosque yard can be used for a variety of
other activities, such as sacrificial slaughter of animals during Eid al-Adha.
The animals of the Sacrifice that will be slaughtered are also directly
tethered in this place. To the right of the mosque near the management office
will be provided land as a place to slaughter animals, especially as a place to
drain blood. Because there is usually a large amount of animal meat, meat
processing and slicing is done in a fairly large area. Then this can also be
done on the Shahada mosque yard. These meats will be sent to the community by
administrators and volunteers. The remaining meat can be cooked in the Shahada
mosque kitchen. Mosque yard can also be used for other activities, such as
arts, martial arts, and social activities.

One of the supporters of the Shahada
mosque's scene is the existence of the park. A park can provide soft elements
that provide a friendly atmosphere, calmness, and freshness for the mosque
area. The soft elements that can be seen are plants and water. Plants can be in
the form of grass, shrubs, flowers, and trees. Green plants can give a very
strong natural impression that creates the effect of softness and tranquility
in the atmosphere of a room. In the Shahada mosque design there will be bushes
or flower plants and trees on the edge of the area.
Water elements can be in the form of
ponds, fountains, artificial waterfalls, and others. The presence of water
elements can reduce the temperature of the surrounding air so it is cool and
refreshing. Next to the Shahada mosque there is a large pool that can add to
the beauty of the park. Whereas behind or beside the Shahada mosque there will
be a mini fountain.
Hopefully the design of the Shahada
Mosque (Masjid Syahadat), which is part of the Betterpad-Ray (Benteng Terpadu
Raya/Great Integrated Fortress) model/maquette, can inspire and be realized. Aamiin.
