MAQUETTE BETTERPAD-RAY - Frame at the Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat)

Installation of glass, shutters, or door leaf on a building requires a fairly sturdy frame. Apart from being used for hanging doors, windows and glass frames, frames are also useful as a barrier to the upper and side walls. Usually if the type of frame installed has a weak resistance, cracks will be found on the wall at the corner. The design of the Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat) which is part of the Betterpad-Ray (Benteng Terpadu Raya / Great Integrated Fortress "Mural Wall") model will pay attention to the selection of frames properly and correctly. In order to be safe and create beauty, God willing, the Shahada Mosque will install frames that are of good quality and durable.

Frame is grouped by type of material. There are at least four types of frame materials commonly used, namely wood, aluminum, fiber or plastic, and iron or steel. These materials have advantages and disadvantages according to their respective characteristics.

Wood frames have advantages that are easy to work with, have a beautiful and natural impression, and are easy to finishing. The disadvantages are not fire and water resistance, easily exposed to termites, and hard to obtain dry wood. Aluminum frames have advantages on a display that seems modern and does not require finishing, but the price is relatively expensive, not impact resistant, and not all builders can install it. While fiber frames are resistant to water, color choices vary, and prices are relatively cheap. But the fiber frame is less sturdy and the door moves quickly because the hinges are not strong enough.

Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat) in Betterpad-Ray is a mosque that has traditional architectural designs that use natural materials for building materials. Then wood will be used as frame material in the Shahada mosque. Besides being natural, the shape of the wooden frame in the mosque can be made as desired. Basically the frame has a rectangular frame shape. As for Islamic architecture which also imitates Arabic style, wood can be formed into frames that have curves with style and size as desired.

Frame consists of four basic components and additional components.

o   Doors are components of buildings that function as access to and out of people from and into buildings. The door leaf material is usually adjusted to the frame material or combination. The door to the design of the Shahada mosque will have the same color as the frame with the same material, namely wood. And wood material is a material that is still often used in new mosques (in Indonesia) because it maintains traditional architecture.

o   Windows are building components that have dual functions, namely as lighting in buildings, and air vents. In the past, houses generally had a large enough yard. Houses at that time which partially survived until now had windows made of wood arranged by providing gaps because the yard was wide and for security. Windows like this are usually only opened during the day. Now the window is very diverse and generally in the form of a frame that surrounds the glass. While mosques in general including the design of the Shahada mosque will use glass windows because of lighting.

o   Glass is a component of a building that functions as a place of entry of light and so that people inside can see the situation outside or maybe vice versa. This glass is mounted on the frame. There are many mosques that use glass in addition to windows as lighting.

o   Air vent is a component of a building that functions as an air circulation for a house or building. But there is also air vent installed on the door and window as ventilation and lighting. The form of air vent can also be made according to the wishes and architecture of the building, especially the mosque which can use the form of air vent in the form of arches like a dome.

o   Hangers are complementary components that function to hang windows and doors so that they can be fused as a door or window unit. Various types of hangers include locks, wind hooks, latches, and hinges. God willing, the Shahada Mosque in Betterpad-Ray will use these tools with good quality to be safe and comfortable.

Hopefully the design of the Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat), which is part of the Betterpad-Ray (Benteng Terpadu Raya / Great Integrated Fortress) model, can inspire and be realized. Aamiin.
