MAQUETTE BETTERPAD-RAY - Commemoration of the Nuzulul Qur'an at the Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat) (Design)

There are many mosques especially in Indonesia that commemorate Nuzulul Qur'an on the night of the 17th of Ramadan. Nuzulul Qur'an is the event of the revelation of Allah SWT to the Prophet Muhammad in the Cave of Hira through the angel Gabriel (Jibril). Before being appointed as a Prophet, Prophet Muhammad often left alone and pondered about nature in the cave of Hira. There he always thought about the existence of a Creator who controlled the universe. At the age of 40 years when the Prophet was alone in Gua Hira, suddenly he was visited by the angel Gabriel/Jibril who delivered the first revelation received by Prophet Muhammad namely Surah Al ‘Alaq verse 1-5.

Initially Prophet Muhammad was ordered by Jibril to read the verses, but Prophet Muhammad replied that he could not read. This is because the youth of the Prophet Muhammad was used to work namely to herd the goats and not have the opportunity to learn to read and write. When he was young he had no parents (Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib and Aminah), and his grandfather who had treated him, Abdul Muttalib had died. Then during this occurrence, the angel Gabriel/Jibril read Al-‘Alaq verses 1 - 5:

ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ  ١ خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ  ٢ ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ  ٣ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ  ٤ عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ  ٥

1.  Recite in the name of your Lord who created -

2.  Created man from a clinging substance.

3.  Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -

4.  Who taught by the pen -

5.  Taught man that which he knew not.

After that, Gabriel/Jibril left him and he returned home in a state of trembling and met his wife at the time, Khadijah. In essence, after that Prophet Muhammad struggled in preaching and teaching Islam until the age of 63 years. During that time the words of Allah SWT came down to him in the form of the Qur'an verses that we can read now. The verses of the Qur'an indeed come down gradually in accordance with the conditions experienced by Prophet Muhammad while struggling in preaching.

The Shahada Mosque (Masjid Syahadat), which is part of the design of the Betterpad-Ray (Benteng Terpadu Raya / Great Integrated Fortress) model, God willing, can commemorate the Nuzulul Qur'an night if the design can be realized. The Nuzulul Qur'an Memorial is carried out in the main building of the Shahada Mosque on the night of the 17th of Ramadan and can be held after the tarawih prayer in congregation and at Sahur. The main purpose of this warning is for Muslims to know the history especially about the prophethood of Muhammad SAW and the Holy Qur'an. The Shahada Mosque will invite scholars to give lectures on Nuzulul Qur'an. The program will begin by saying basmalah and reading Al Alaq verses 1-5. After that, the study of Nuzulul Qur'an, then ended with a prayer (du'a).

The first commandment from Allah to Prophet Muhammad and all Muslims is "Read" which is written at the beginning of verse one. This shows that reading is the most important activity carried out in order to obtain knowledge. Reading is not just reading the intended book, but can "read" the conditions around and various events that occur. Allah commands reading to Muslims because so that we can carry out worship and do wisdom properly must know the knowledge gained from reading. Furthermore, God is the Creator who creates human beings perfectly. Humans have reason so they can do something well and make decisions. But humans will have to get guidance from Allah SWT through the Qur'an so that people do not get lost.

The Shahada Mosque in Betterpad-Ray has also implemented what was ordered in Surah Al Alaq. The Shahada Mosque provides a small library of bookshelves in which there are Qur'an books and other useful readings. These books may be read at the Shahada Mosque and must be returned if they have finished reading. This is one of the functions of the mosque in terms of education so that Muslims have extensive knowledge and insight and become advanced people and get blessings from Allah SWT.
