Sunlight has a very large and broad
role for the environment. In addition to being used directly as a building
lighting source, sunlight can also be used to be converted into electrical
energy. Sunlight received by the earth, in addition to producing light also
produces radiation that can be converted into electrical energy which is useful
for operating electronic equipment and machinery. The advantage of utilizing
sunlight is to have a very positive positive impact on the environment. The sun
is a renewable and environmentally friendly source of energy. The use of
sunlight does not produce residues that pollute the environment. This is
different from fossil energy which is very limited and produces exhaust gas
which tends to pollute the environment, for example steam power plants that use
coal combustion to heat water that produces steam.
The use of sunlight to be converted
into electrical energy is not a new thing and also not the latest technology.
But the high dependence on fossil energy makes the technology less developed
and less attractive. Though sunlight is a very abundant energy and often
referred to as renewable energy. Actually, the country of Indonesia which is
located in the tropics and passed the equator has abundant and relatively
stable sunlight resources throughout the year. By only having two seasons
throughout the year (rainy and dry seasons), Indonesia has the potential to
utilize sunlight as an optimal source of energy. The that gift of the Most
Merciful God Almighty is not owned by a country that has four seasons whose
access to sunlight is quite limited.
The use of sunlight as a producer of
electrical energy has been widely carried out and is actually no stranger to
everyday life. For example a calculator used in schools, offices, and stores is
a digital counting device that uses solar cells as its energy source. Street
lighting also uses solar power. However, the use and development of this
technology is still limited compared to technology with other sources of
energy, although there has been a competition and development arena in the
educated environment, such as the manufacture of solar power cars and precisely
the four seasons that can develop them well.
The Betterpad-Ray (Benteng Terpadu
Raya / Great Integrated Fortress "Mural Wall") model is designed to be an environmentally
friendly building complex by utilizing renewable energy sources to become
electricity, although it may only be used for certain parts of the building and
activities. The Betterpad-Ray building complex will utilize light and solar
radiation to be converted into electrical energy using solar or photovoltaic
panels. The tool can be installed in certain parts of the building facing the
sun, generally mounted on the roof of the building. Installation of
photovoltaics must be effective and not obstructed by other objects.
Installation must be done neatly and still pay attention to building
aesthetics. Therefore, photovoltaics should not be installed on the front of
the building, but in the back or other parts that are more invisible. Then
there is the "solar panel tree" in the form of a pole embedded in the
ground whose shape is indeed branched and at the end there are solar panels.
God willing, Betterpad-Ray will also
have lighting for roads or courtyards and parks in Betterpad-Ray that use solar
power. Lighting lights in the form of high poles will be installed around the
building complex to illuminate the road or the surrounding environment.
Arrangement of lighting must be made neat so that it is beautiful Lampposts
that are beautifully viewed are those with curved upper parts. The use of solar
power for lighting is effective because it can benefit many people and save
energy, especially fossil energy.The use of solar or photovoltaic panels does
have to incur more costs when buying and must be maintained and cared for
properly when used. But the release of these costs will certainly feel light
because of the great benefits to the environment and at the same time reduce
the use of fossil energy. Various parties can support the use of solar power
technology so that humans really do not depend on fossil energy alone. And
there are many other ways to protect the environment and reduce the use of
tools that can damage the environment. Education and the emergence of awareness
are needed so that the natural environment can be friendly to humans. And
Betterpad-Ray can be used as a place for people to discuss and find solutions
about the environment.
